Weekly Insights: Spring

From spring anticipation to students’ exercise habits, here are this week’s top college student insights.

Spring

In a recent survey of 690 students, 30% say they are most looking forward to finishing the spring semester. Roughly 1 in 6 students are most looking forward to warmer weather (19%), COVID-19 restrictions lifting (15%), or potentially getting the COVID-19 vaccine (13%). But seniors are more likely to say they’re most looking forward to graduation (37%) compared to COVID-19 restrictions lifting (10%), or potentially getting the COVID-19 vaccine (9%).

Homeownership

Gen Z is growing up in a different world than previous generations, yet a new survey of 960 undergraduates finds that homeownership is still a life goal for 86% of students. However, college Republicans are more likely than college Democrats to say they want to own a home one day (97% vs. 88%).

Do you want to eventually own a home?

Exercise

Staying active is important, but 1 in 5 (20%) college students say they never exercise for 30 minutes or more at a time. Almost one-quarter (24%) say they work out for 30+ minutes less than once a month, while 35% do at least once a week. However, female students are more likely than male students to say they never exercise for 30+ minutes at a time (25% vs. 14%).
